Just going by what the distingushed gentlemen said, moving away from being an auteur to a pluteur, working in collectives, makes truly collaboritive film and might ease the pain of sharing the process with the internet.

I dont know if restating what was said counts as an idea, sorry;-;

I like the idea of building out your world, if the concept fits, across all manner of media on the internet. Sort of a bunch of people's singular vision of one reality. So you create a sandbox that a bunch of other artists can play in. That's what was said in the variety article. I'm not much of a fan, though, of collaborative filmmaking in the sense of one story having multiple directors. It's an interesting diversion, but a film has to have one vision. I want to see P.T. Anderson's "There Will Be Blood", not P.T. Anderson and ten other people's idea of Daniel Plainview. I think ti's interesting to aggregate documentary material, as you might wind up with a more balanced view, but beyond that sort of thing, I would hate to see it become the standard of storytelling in film.

Actually, on the subject of building your own little world and creating a sort of 'franchise' I'm doing it right now with a web series called The Grey Corridor about a character who writes books about alien abduction putting down the pen and picking up a camera. Just search The Grey Corridor on youtube or google and you'll find the first episode of a twelve episode season. Also, for this kind of thing, check out After Judgement, a great web series I have nothing to do with, but I just think they're doing what everyone else only talks about doing!
